Co-extrusion is a sophisticated manufacturing technique, which combines two or more materials simultaneously, yielding a composite with distinct layers. In WPC, this process integrates an outer cap layer alongside the core material. Engineered for superior performance, the outer layer shields the core, augmenting the durability and aesthetics of Co-Extrusion WPC Flooring. This method ensures that the composite achieves optimal strength, resilience, and visual appeal, making it ideal for various applications, especially in outdoor settings where weather resistance and longevity are paramount.
Benefits of Co-Extrusion WPC Floor
Co-Extrusion WPC Flooring is a type of composite decking that is both sturdy and long-lasting. An outside layer of co-extruded polymer gives increased protection against weathering, UV radiation, and other environmental conditions, while the interior core is often constructed of reclaimed wood fibre and plastic. It is a great option for homeowners who want to make their outdoor space one-of-a-kind due to the wide variety of colours, textures, and patterns it comes in.
Protection against the Elements.
Co-extrusion WPC decking's many advantages include protection from the elements. It is able to withstand the elements for a long time since its outer polymer layer protects it from things like UV rays, moisture, and temperature swings.
Enhanced Stability and Longevity.
The greater durability of co-extrusion WPC decking is just one benefit. It is extremely durable because of its multilayer construction. Its inner core is made of recycled wood fibre and plastic, and its outside layer is made of co-extruded polymer. This makes it a great choice for use on decks, patios, and around swimming pools, all of which see a lot of foot traffic. It's high moisture and rot resistance also makes it a great material for use in damp outdoor settings.
Low-Upkeep
Unlike traditional wood decking, co-extrusion WPC decking does not require staining, painting or sealing. Additionally, it is highly resistant to fading and staining, so it maintains its appearance with minimal upkeep. A simple cleaning with soap and water or a pressure washer is all that's needed to keep the surface looking great year after year.
Cost Benefits
Co-extrusion WPC decking also offers cost benefits. While the upfront cost of co-extrusion WPC decking may be slightly higher than traditional wood decking, it requires less maintenance and replacement over time, making it a more cost-effective option in the long run.

Co-Extrusion WPC Flooring is one of the easiest floorings to care for.
Do's
· For day-to-day maintenance, after sweeping the floor with a soft brush, or vacuuming the floor WITHOUT s beater, you can simply use any household cleaners with a damp mop.
· For deeper cleanings you can wet mop with cleansers such.
· It is advisable to use microfiber mops.
· Remove more stubborn soils with a soft nylon brush or sponge.
Don't's
· Don't use bleach or heavy soap cleansers.
· Don't use Floor polish.
· Don't use abrasives or harsh chemicals (ammonia-based cleaners, wax based products, detergents).
How To Mitigate Heat Buildup in Co-Extrusion WPC Floors?
To mitigate heat buildup in WPC floors exposed to sunlight, homeowners and designers can implement several strategies:
Choose Lighter Colors
Choose lighter-colored WPC flooring, which reflect more sunlight and absorb less heat compared to darker colors. Lighter hues not only help maintain cooler surface temperatures but also enhance the visual brightness and spaciousness of interior spaces.
Use Shading Solutions
Install shading solutions such as awnings, pergolas, or outdoor umbrellas to provide relief from direct sunlight and reduce heat exposure on WPC floors. Strategic placement of shade structures can create comfortable outdoor environments while preserving the integrity of WPC flooring materials.
Implement Proper Ventilation
Ensure adequate ventilation and airflow around WPC floors to dissipate heat and prevent heat buildup in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces. Consider installing vents, fans, or louvers to promote air circulation and thermal comfort in indoor and outdoor environments.
Apply Heat-Reflective Coatings
Consider applying heat-reflective coatings or surface treatments to WPC floors to minimize heat absorption and enhance thermal performance. These specialized coatings can help reduce surface temperatures and mitigate the risk of heat-related damage or deformation in WPC flooring materials.
Steps to Install Co-Extrusion WPC Floor
Be sure to install the first row of boards with the tongue side facing the wall. First plank, first row. Place a distance ¼" (5mm) thickness to the left and position the plank against the wall. Later, after 3 rows, you can easily position the flooring against the front wall with distances ¼".
Prior to installation, measure the width of the room to check if the first row should preferably be cut length wise to get more equal width of the first and last rows planks.
Second plank, first row. Press the short end of the next floorboard at an angle to the first one, and then lay down. Complete the first row in the same way.
At the end of the first row, put a distance 1/4" , to the wall and measure the length of the last plank to fit. Cut the last panel to correct length, recommended min length is two times the width of the plank.
Second row. Position the remaining part of the first row's last plank as first plank of second row. Keep again two times the width as min length. Put a distance against the wall.
General. Distances between short ends. Minimum distance between short ends of planks in parallel rows shall not be less than about two times the width of the plank.
Place the floorboard an angle against the floorboard in the previous row, press forward and fold down at the same time. Leave the panel in a somewhat up angled position where the panels start to lock. To make this further easier, a wedge with the suitable angle can be placed under the plank near the short side joint as support.
Second plank second row. Place the short end of the floorboard at an angle against the previous installed floorboard and fold down all the way.
Push to slide the plank against the row in front so it aligns with the first plank. Put it down like with the first plank when the floorboards are positioned tightly together. The first/previous plank can now be folded completely down to horizontal position and if a wedge is used it can be moved to the next short end joint.
After 2-3 rows. Adjust the distance to the front wall by placing distances 1/4". Keep the distances in position during the entire time of installation and remove once the installation is completed.
If the wall is uneven, the floorboards must be adapted to its contours. Mark the floorboards with the contour of the wall. Do not forget to leave a 1/4" space to the wall. This procedure shall be used also for the first row if necessary.
Cut off the locking element with a chisel, apply applicable glue on the adjusted strip and push the planks horizontally together. If necessary place some spacers between last board and the wall during the hardening time of the glue. The method can also be applied to the short ends.
Mark the center of the holes and drill the hole with a diameter about 16 mm bigger than the pipe diameter (= 1/4" gap around), cut as shown with a saw or with a sharp utility knife. Install the floor plank. If necessary, put glue on the cut piece and replace.
Lamination and extrusion are common manufacturing processes used to create a variety of building different, can produce materials that look very similar to the untrained eye. The purpose of this article is to explain some of the fundamental differences between a laminated article and an extruded article.
There are three major differences between laminated materials and Co-Extrusion WPC Floor materials.
1. Laminated products are a composite material that is made up of multiple layers of different materials. The key word is different. On the other hand, extruded products comprise a single layer of one primary material called an extrudate.
2. Since laminated products are made up of multiple layers, these layers need to be assembled into the final unit. This is accomplished by heating, compressing, welding or gluing the layers together. If the materials in the various layers are substantially different, this can complicate the assembly process. Incompatible materials may be difficult to bond together, and potentially require multiple steps to achieve a satisfactory bond. Extruded products, on the other hand, are not assembled, glued or bonded. They consist of a single layer or extrudate.
3. Some laminated materials undergo a mode of failure called delamination. This occurs when a stress or impact causes the bonds holding the different layers together to separate. Since extruded materials are a single material throughout, not layers bonded together, there is nothing to separate and therefore delamination cannot occur.

Vinyl extrusion is the process of manufacturing vinyl profiles used for fencing, patio covers and gates. The raw "cake mix" (in blended powder form or in chip or pellet form) which includes PVC resin, impact modifiers, UV stabilizers, heat stabilizers, and flow agents are melted and forced through a heated screw and barrel that forces the melted compound through shaping dies, downstream tooling, and cooling baths to obtain the final rigid profile.
Vinyl profiles are run continuously and are cut as they come "off the line" by a sliding saw. The skill and equipment required to create high quality profiles that are consistent and meet specifications is significant.
Many of the important properties of these vinyl profiles are determined by the characteristics of the PVC compound from which the pipe is extruded. Larger extrusions companies blend their own proprietary compounds from resins and other micro-ingredients. Smaller extrusion companies (and many who make caps and accessories using the injection molding method) often use compound that has already been blended by major resin manufacturers.
There are two primary categories of vinyl extrusion: Mono-extrusion and Co-Extrusion WPC Floor.
· Mono-extrusion has one layer of product all the way across the section of the profile (end view).
· Co-extrusion has both a substrate (inside of the profile) and cap-stock (outside of the profile). When properly extruded, these two layers are molecularly bonded as they are in a state of melt when extruded, and thus they will not delaminate.
